THE CALL TO PRAYER "ADHAN"

Ismlam is the official religion in Morocco, and of course Marrakech even with all it's Westernized people and locations. Islam  is not exclusive however, and co exists with many other religions. Because Islam is the official religion in Marrakech you will hear the call to prayer at least 5 times day.

I'm not Islamic, but Adhan for me is a tranquil moment. Broadcast over loudspeakers from the rooftops, people slip off their shoes an enter local mosques.

In a northeastern Derb in the Souk, I was fascinated by intricate ceilings and arches, and while I took this photo, my friend walked by. A muslim. He has nothing other to do with this blurb, but that he adds a complex part to this simple photo. A gap? Undeliverd reciprocity?

Whatever it is, he is off to the call to prayer. It goes like this:
The caller (Mu’adh-dhin) stands facing Ka’bah (Qiblah), and raising his hands to his ears calls in a loud voice:
ALLAHU AKBAR

Allah is the greatest.
ALLAHU AKBAR

Allah is the greatest.
ALLAHU AKBAR

Allah is the greatest.
ALLAHU AKBAR

Allah is the greatest.
ASH-HADU AL-LA ILAHA ILLALLAH

I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah.
ASH-HADU AL-LA ILAHA ILLALLAH

I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah.
ASH-HADU AN-NA MUHAMMADAR-RASULULAH

I bear witness that Muhammed (S.A.W.) is the Messenger of Allah.
ASH-HADU AN-NA MUHAMMADAR-RASULULAH

I bear witness that Muhammed (S.A.W.) is the Messenger of Allah.
HAYYA ‘ALAS SALAH

Come to prayer.
HAYYA ‘ALAS SALAH

Come to prayer.
HAYYA ‘ALAL FALAH

Come to your Good.
HAYYA ‘ALAL FALAH

Come to your Good.
ALLAHU AKBAR

Allah is the Greatest.
ALLAHU AKBAR

Allah is the Greatest.

Shukran!
