ASSALAMO 3ALAYKOM (THAT'S NOT A TYPO)
A quick hello as I'm off to have more fun in strange places. I've been doing a lot of wandering and wondering these days. Marrakech has proven to be a mix of old and new. The mystical and modern. Stuck somewhere in between.
Studying Classicl Arabic, though just a few short days in, has been one of the highlights. Excited for studies everyday. Because I'm studying Classic Arabic, I may still have some communicating difficulites with locals in Arabic, since they speak a Moroccan dialect of Darija. Still....it doesn't hurt to practice and be corrected. Shukran Khoya.
The food has been a pleasure. I Love, love, Moroccan pancakes. Beghrir Similar to a crepe, but more like a scone. I'm addicted to these things. Simple, loaded with calories, especially when topped with honey and and butter, but a comfort food. Reminds me of deep frying scones as a child. Eight years old and I could put away 3 or 4 of those things.
You can find these down every alley way in the souks, the square, and just about every corner. Also thankfully at home, thanks again to my talented housemate. Change it up and add cheese or onion. However its done you can't beat .$0.40 for a filling "meal"

Hey, more later. Busy schedule today. Exercise, Arabic studies, getting lost in the souk, and the Koutoubia Mosque is still on the list. More on my local list of "to do" @ Travel Marrakech
